Things around here have been pretty busy lately. Work is really starting to kick it up. I've been developing new functionality for our ClaimTest Pro product. I may also be going to Arizona for a month to learn our Encounter Pro product. Always exciting.
On the home front, I'm eager anticipating this weekend. I fly down to Atlanta on saturday to pick up Brodie. I haven't seen him since christmas. Since then, Mindy has been working very diligently with him on potty training. From the reports I get, he's doing very well. My little man is growing up, and I couldn't be more proud of him.
For the workout portion of my life, I've been preparing for the Shamrock 1/2 Marathon in March. With just 5 weeks remaining, the training regement has been thrown into high gear. Also, I'm trying to keep up with my buddy in Birmingham, Ash, who's doing P90X. I've had to make some alterations to the program, but so far it's working out ok.

How in the world can I run 10 to 12 miles a week and not lose weight? I'll tell you how. I eat like I've never eaten before.
I don't know what it is, but I have an insatiable urge to stuf my pie hole all the time now.
I need to stuff it with healthy things. Veggies, fruits, chicken all need to be the regular staples of my diet. Not diet soda and snack food.
Time to quite my bitchin' or I'm going to be back on the express train to Fat-Man-In-A-Little-Coat-Ville.
I'm waiting until later in the evenings to run now, now that Brodie is living with me. Justin and Tracy are nice enough to watch him while he's sleeping and then I go for a run. I figure that is better than daycare at the gym.
Until later, I'll be running.

Ok, so its not really that easy, but it is definitely getting easier the more I do it. I just finished my first official 10K. My time was 58:58, It seems the course was actually 6.4 miles, not 6.24 miles. Who knew. Oh well, I ran it comfortably. I recovered quickly. I definitely think I can run a half marathon.

Things around here have been a little nuts lately.
Last week I almost ended up living in van, down by river. Actually it was a motorhome at the KOA, but close enough. Luckily, that same day, a friend let me know he had a place my brother, Jonathan, and I could rent from him for at least the next 6 months. Now I have to get all my stuff from Birmingham to Virginia Beach. Took some coordination and some time, but I'm doing it via PODS. I'm hoping to move in around November 12th.
Also, Brodie is coming!!!!!!!!! I will have Brodie in Virginia Beach for the whole month of November. I'm so excited. Just me and him :) Of course Nana and Bumpa will want some time with him, too. I've been trying to find daycare, and unfortunately the lady who watched him in May is unable to keep him in November. But I've been able to find a few other places, there is even a Goddard School in Virginia Beach. The places I've visited so far have been nice and seem to be in line ...

We've decided to try and run the Shamrock Marathon, March 22nd, 2009 in Virginia Beach. By we, I mean Ash Quakenbush and I.
We are going to blog about our training. Next big run on our plate is the Vulcan 10K. I will officially become a long distance runner with this effort.
Stay tuned for more.

It's been 10 days now and things are really sinking in. I'm moving to Virginia in 2 weeks, arranging custody, asset / debt allocation and getting everything in my own name.
I'm sure glad I have Brodie to help me keep my eye on the ball through out this. Who knows how I'd be doing without his fun attitude and big grin.
We were all able to meet up for lunch this past saturday, as Grandpa Jim came over from Atlanta. He and Brodie had so much fun. We know it made Nana Jo envious.
So far I'm doing well. I've had the support of some really good friends to get me through this. I can't thank the Q's enough. I'm sure going to miss running with Ash. I wish there was some way I could convince them to move to Virginia Beach with me. I know they'd have so much fun.
I ran another 5K this weekend, and had a blast. 28:15, not my best, but another quality outing. I just have to ge ...

Last week I had some time off. Not from work, but from working out like a crazy person. Work called me up to the Virginia Beach office. It was nice to hang out with the family for a few days. I can't wait to see Justin and Tracy's new house when it's finished.
Begin away from home didn't mean getting away from running though. Quick tip, don't eat chocolate cake 30 minutes before a run.
Saturday morning, after spending too many hours friday in the airport, I ran in the Shake and Bake 5K. The organizers changed the course plan at the last minute. I finished in my best time, for the second week in a row, 28 minutes 5 seconds.
